The Gospel according to Curly...

We just finished SBO jr at our church. SBO stands for Summer BreakOut and it's our church's version of vacation Bible school. Last year we decided to add a junior version of it that would cater to preschool kids. It was a big hit so we continued that this year.

I must say that Grace is amazing. The SBO team gets together, writes their own curriculum, does their own decorating, writes their own stories, etc., etc.

This year our theme was based on a popular show...Mythbusters. We exploded the truth and busted myths about Christ.

Needless to say, Curly and Moe were pretty tired last night and so was I. During bath time, my eyes began to tear up as I eavesdropped on Curly retelling all the stories to her fully engaged sister.

It went something like this:

Curly - "Hey Moe, this week I learned a lot about Jesus. I learned about how Jesus and a man named Lazarus. Lazarus was Jesus' friend and he died...it was very sad. But Jesus came to his house and yelled at him to come out of his grave and Lazarus listened to Jesus! Isn't that cool?"

Moe - "That is cool, sissy. What else happened?"

Curly - "I also learned how Jesus came from Heaven to help us and then he died and went back to Heaven to save us!"

Moe - "Wow"

Curly - "Then there were all these guys in a boat and they looked out and saw Jesus walking on the water and then this dude wanted to come out on the water with Jesus. - Mommy, what was that dude's name?"

Mommy - (trying very hard not to laugh through her tears) "His name was Peter, he was one of Jesus' disciples."

Curly - "Oh yea, I knew that. Moe, Peter wanted to walk out on the water with Jesus so Jesus said come on! Then Peter started to sink, do you know why he started to sink?"

Moe - "Why?"

Curly - "Because he was afraid, do you know why he was afraid?"

Moe - "Why?"

Curly - "Because there were SHARKS!!!! And then Jesus said, let's get back in the boat! You see Moe, even Jesus was afraid of SHARKS!"

Moe - "Oh my gosh!"

And there you have it, according to an almost 5 year old, even Jesus was afraid of SHARKS!

Peace Out!
