What Florida taught me about things like Fourmingos!

I know that it has been a while but it was for a reason. My family and I just took our first vacation alone. Now, this is not to belittle any times that we have been away that included extended members of our families but this time it was just me, Other Guy, Curly & Moe! We spent 9 days in Florida with Other Guy on a business trip. It was so wonderful. The girls did great...we spent time at Theme Parks and the beach and time just chilling out at the hotel. Other Guy had business to do but still cherished every moment he had with us. The girls laughed at us and we laughed at them.

One of the best times was during one of our long trips in the car. Moe was asleep and Curly was watching a movie with her headphones on. It was a dvd of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. For those of you who don't watch Playhouse Disney, the theme song for the show goes something like this..."It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, come inside, it's fun inside. M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!" Suddenly, in a very silent moment, Curly starts belting out the song...unaware that we can hear her loud and clear. She is just singing her heart out and then starts the part of the song that spells Mickey's name. Her version went something like this, "M-I-C-K-E-Y How bout U-S-E!" Needless to say, Other Guy and I bust out laughing! She just kept on singing and we kept on laughing, it was great!

Curly had another great moment on the next to last day of our trip. She learned to swim with out a floatie. She was jumping off the side of the pool and swimming to the edge. She jumped off her Daddy's shoulders and swam. They had a great time going under water and looking at each other. It was a bittersweet moment though...suddenly our first born in growing up. I still remember her first time swimming. It doesn't seem possible that she should be big enough to swim but she is and we are thrilled.

Now Moe on the other hand, I wish I could spend just five minutes in that little angel's brain. Some of the stories she comes up with...well, it's just mindblowing. She will pull stuff out of the air and leave us in tears because we are laughing so hard. She and her sister fully enjoyed their time together and would talk all day about the things they had just finished doing.

One of the cool things we did on our trip was visiting with some flamingos. If you leaned down, they would come over and "preen" your hair, like they do their own feathers. Being the animal lover that I am, of course I had to do it and Curly soon joined me. Moe just stood back with Daddy and laughed and laughed about the fourmingos! Daddy and I started laughing out loud and still do at home when out of the blue, Moe starts talking about the fourmingos and her sister tries to correct her speech.

Being a parent is so much fun!

Peace Out!

I'm so glad you all had such a good time. Those two girlies of yours are just too funny! I'm really hoping this next year will be the year I pick your brain about all things Florida.
