5 Weird Things about me...

Okay, so I was recently tagged by my friend Daneen, and to be quite honest, I finally figured out what that actually meant. I'm a little behind in the times, but hey I'm figuring things out...slowly but surely.

First off, Daneen, come on! I'm a little offended that you think I have 5 weird things about me! I thought we were closer than that...you know I'm perfect, right??!!!

All kidding aside, where do I begin, thankfully for all of you in bloggity world it only asked for 5 and not 50!

So, here goes:

  1. I have a lazy eye...not one of those things that you notice right away. It's something that is only REALLY apparent when I'm tired. So, if it ever seems like I'm winking at you, just smile and know that it was a night of little sleep and wink back!
  2. I am an animal freak! Now, some of you are saying, "Oh, that's not weird, that's sweet!" but you don't get it. I once stopped my car in the middle of a major road to save a turtle that was crossing the road...Did I mention that I was 8 months pregnant?
  3. I have an organization addiction. I attend regular OA meetings and I am getting better. I have not tried to organize my friend's things in at least 5 hours now. Seriously, I like things color coded, alphabetical, numerical, you name it - I want it in some sensible order. Kids really threw me for a loop and right now my house doesn't completely reflect that, but it's there, make no doubt about it, whispering to me, calling to me in my sleep, "Marie, you know there is filing to be done, do you remember that the plastic lids aren't all in order..."
  4. I had a form of hip displatia (sp?) when I was born. My hip bone wasn't quite connected to my leg bone, but my leg bone WAS connected to my ankle bone and my typing bone WAS connected to my funny bone! I wore a brace on my legs and my mom helped me to work things out and now I walk just fine. Thanks MOM!
  5. I love ELEPHANTS! I collect them, like to watch them...matter of fact, one of my dream vacations would be to work at an elephant rescue. I would honestly own one if it weren't for my husband...thanks, other guy!

So, there you have it...in the words of Beth Moore's daughter, you are probably dumber for knowing this about me but I can assure you that I love you none the less!

Peace Out

Excited just doesn't quite cut it!

Okay, here's how the conversation played out...

Phone rings, I answer...

Me: Hello

Sista: What's up?

Me: Oh, not much. How are you feeling? (sister just had full hysterectomy on June 4th)

Sista: Well, this has really kicked me in the butt, but I'm hangin in there. Hey, remember when we joked about me coming there during my recovery?

Me: (heart starts beating out of chest) Yes?????

Sista: Well, how about these dates...

Me: (Telling myself calmly, just breathe, keep control...it's not a definite) Oh that would be great but we are going to be out of town for part of that.

Sista: Oh, well...let me call you back.

Me: Uhhh, okay (trying really hard not to sound to disappointed or desperate!)

Phone rings later:

Me: Hello

Sista: Hey you! What about these dates...

Angels: Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Me: That is AWESOME, OH my gosh, I'm so excited...my heart is racing, I think I'm sweating!

Sista: Calm down, calm down, it's just me.

Me: It's just you, just you...WHATEVER!!! I am putting the dates in RED in the calendar, you are officially obligated to visit me...oh, wait, guess what, the dates you are coming Other Guy is leading worship at our church!

Sista: SWWWWWEEEEEEET!

Me: I KNOW! Okay, well let me go get some oxygen or something...I'm actually light headed!

Sista: Okay, well I'll talk to you later

Me: NOOOOO, make that I'll see ya later!

All that to say, MY SISTER IS COMING TO VISIT ME (& the rest of the family too) BUT REALLY TO VISIT ME and I'm very pumped!

Well, gotta run, I'm helping with SBO jr this week (Our version of Vacation Bible School) and I've got to get some sleep. I am T-I-RED!

By the way, be in prayer for Other Guy tomorrow he is having Lasik. Also, remember my friend's the Allen's who have welcomed a new little one to their family. May she bless them in ways that only a little girl can.

Peace Out!

I LIVE...I LIVE

Oh my stars, it has been too long my blogger friends, too long. I am happy to report that I am with computer again. Praise God from whom all technology flows, praise Him all Bloggers here below, okay, I'll stop...I'm just really excited!

So much has happened in the last couple of months. Babies, weddings, friends, families, you name it.

I will give you a brief synopsis (I know honey...that's a big word and you are so proud of me, very FUNNY!)

First and foremost, my sister got married to the most perfect man (for her of course!) I don't know that you could look at the two of them and their relationship and not know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God ordained this relationship. They are perfect for each other and to see them say their vows to one another, I truly saw LOVE. It was beautiful.

As I think back on the ceremony, I was reminded of a song from a long time ago. It's a country song but I'll share the lyrics with you and some pics.

He never had given much thought to dancin', but she gave a lot of thought to being asked. Well, he'd never been good and comin' right on out and askin' and she'd never been given the chance. But something moved him across that ole dance floor when fear was holding fast and to his surprise, the words came at last. And she said yes to his half hearted request and they held on for dear life until the last song played. No they won't let go, it's beyond their control. They lit a flame with the match God had made, when she said yes. From that night on the fire was burning and they sure did shine in it's light. And he knew as long as this ole world kept turning, he wanted her by his side. So with a ring and a nervous smile, he said the sweetest words that she'd ever heard. And she said yes, to his WHOLE hearted request and they'll hold on for dear life til the last star fades. No they won't let go, it's beyond their control. They lit a flame with the match God had made when she said yes!

They went on their honeymoon, an Alaskan cruise, and had a great time. That was followed up by a full hysterectomy and more recovery time. But God is still amazing and still in control, you see because God put the two of them together and they will make it through all of this too!

My friends Missy and Eric welcomed their first child, Emma Nicole and although it was followed by some scary moments and a week in the hospital, all is well now and Emma is doing great! I can't wait to meet her! (sorry, I would share pics but I didn't ask the parents sorry :0( but still wanted to share the great news)

I got to see my mom and my step dad and my sisters and their children. We had an amazing Mother's Day lunch and it felt as though time had melted away and we were all young again, laughing and sharing stories.

We went to Disney and Seaworld and let's just say that Curly and Moe may never recover. They are still walking around the house singing, "Shamu, Shamu!" and asking when we can go to the beach! It's hard to teach geography to a toddler and explain that there are no beaches in the Midwest!

Oh well, I guess I should sign off for now, but I promise more later.

Peace Out!
